MEDLINE Goes Mobile

JAMA. 2010;303(12):1139. doi:10.1001/jama.2010.300

Patients and physicians seeking access to reliable information about medications or conditions may now access a mobile version of the National Library of Medicine's (NLM’s) MEDLINE database.

Mobile MEDLINE Plus (http://m.medlineplus.gov) will provide users in the United States and in some other countries with access to much of the same information available through the MEDLINE Web site (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/), including links to breaking news, summaries on more than 800 diseases, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, and information on prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Among the features being highlighted by the NLM is “Talking With Your Doctor,” which gives patients information on how to prepare for an office visit. The mobile site is available in English and Spanish.
