Where Medicaid Health Dollars Go

JAMA. 2014;311(14):1389. doi:10.1001/jama.2014.3710

The report, requested by Sen Chuck Grassley (R, Iowa), focused on Medicaid-only beneficiaries and not dual-eligible beneficiaries, who receive benefits from both Medicaid and Medicare (http://tinyurl.com/qzhetb9).

In fiscal year 2012, Medicaid spent about $436 billion to provide health care services to about 72.6 million beneficiaries.
