The federal government’s target level for blood pressure control among US adults with hypertension could be within reach, according to a recent analysis.
In 2012 the Department of Health and Human Services launched the Million Hearts initiative, which set a goal for at least 70% of US adults with hypertension to have their blood pressure under control by 2017. Researchers recently assessed progress toward that goal by analyzing data in the 2010-2012 Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), which measures health plans’ performance.
