Vitamin B6, Blood PLP Level, and Risk of Colorectal Cancer

JAMA. 2010;303(22):2251-2252. doi:10.1001/jama.2010.735

To the Editor: In their meta-analysis, Dr Larsson and colleagues1 reviewed and analyzed studies assessing the association between vitamin B6 intake or blood pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP) level and risk of colorectal cancer. I believe that the conclusion as stated in the Abstract (but not in the text) is inaccurate, since their study did not demonstrate a statistically significant inverse association between vitamin B6 intake and colorectal cancer risk.
