Diabetes and Ocular Disease is one of a series of monographs published by Oxford University Press in cooperation with the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Currently there are 18 monographs in the series, this being the 14th. The first edition was published in 2000; this second edition addresses the significant advances since made in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye disease.
The book is divided into 21 chapters and a glossary. The chapters are written by different experts in the field, which results in some overlap in material. Each chapter begins with a brief core message section with 3 to 6 bullets that highlight the key points. In the preface, the editors indicate that the current edition will serve as a valuable resource for ophthalmologists and researchers as well as residents and medical students.
