Atlas of Bladder Disease

JAMA. 2010;304(1):99. doi:10.1001/jama.2010.912

Atlas of Bladder Disease is authored by 46 contributors and consists of 22 chapters covering 317 pages. Of the 22 chapters, 17 address the etiology, evaluation, and treatment of voiding dysfunction. The remaining 5 discuss bladder cancer, bladder tissue engineering, and robotic-assisted radical cystectomy and prostatectomy.

Standard textbook information on the symptoms and neurologic pathophysiology of female lower urinary tract dysfunction is presented in a tabular format in the first chapter. The chapter on neurogenic bladder provides important but incomplete information on 4 cases of neurogenic bladder. The final case tackles the difficult topic of appendicovesicostomy. The chapter on bladder pain syndrome is a routine overview presented as images, tables, and algorithms.
