As researchers seek to understand the countless biological aspects of the human body, those hoping to decipher all of the mysteries of the brain—with its 100 billion neurons—may face the most daunting, and certainly the most complex, of undertakings. A new effort to simulate the complete human brain with supercomputers is expected to be a valuable resource for such investigators as they work to study the brain and ultimately to emulate its capabilities in the lab (https://www.humanbrainproject.eu).
