Truth and Transparency

A bill introduced in the House May 13 seeks to make it unlawful for any health care professional to make deceptive statements or engage in advertising and marketing efforts that mislead patients about their level of training.

The Healthcare Truth and Transparency Act of 2010 (HR 5295 [http://thomas.gov]) also calls for a study by the Federal Trade Commission to identify specific acts and practices that violate the law and the harm resulting from such actions, and to determine the frequency of such incidents.
