My older memories of our younger days
have all abandoned me. They come around
like an old friend after a falling-out,
backpedaling with excuses, who stays
only long enough to prowl about
for what he might take from the lost and found
closet of my nearly broken mind.
And strangers that I swear I never knew
are brought to me by nurses who allow
for my old age; but none can help me find
where you have gone, known only to me now
as a hollowness once occupied by you.
