To the Editor: The report of the European Study Group for Pancreatic Cancer (ESPAC)-3 trial data by Dr Neoptolemos and colleagues1 included a puzzling piece of information. As indicated in Table 1 of the article, 23% of all study patients did not have cholecystectomy during the initial pancreatic resection, although only 8% of all patients underwent a distal pancreatectomy.
