I am convinced that the volume of pertinent new information that finally becomes available each year—the meaty stuff that a physician needs to know in order to provide optimal care to his patients—is not overwhelming. It is finite; it is tractable. But it is difficult to pin down. The problem lies in separating the wheat from the incredible amount of chaff. —Robert H. Moser, MD

In this 21st year after its first publication, Contempo leaves its usual format as an annual dedicated issue to become a regular JAMA feature.
