A group of 20 Democratic senators has called on state governors who have not yet expanded Medicaid in their states under the Affordable Care Act to take action to do so.
In a letter drafted in early June, the senators stated that without expansion of Medicaid, millions of Americans will continue to fall into a coverage gap because their income is too high for Medicaid but below the level for a premium tax credit for coverage through a marketplace plan (http://1.usa.gov/1pvM6Sr). Eighteen governors, all Republicans, have not undertaken the expansion.
