I have studied what maples can do with October
And how aspens write music with light.
I have witnessed willow trees interpreting wind.
And think of these before asking his wife how she’s been.

No wonder we track the sky and its moon,
Note the changing shape of that nocturnal bloom.
Our presence is the finest bouquet we can share
To validate what those who grieve must bear.
