To Authors and Peer Reviewers—Thank You

Author Affiliations

Author Affiliations: Dr DeAngelis is Editor and Dr Fontanarosa is Executive Deputy Editor, JAMA.

JAMA. 2001;285(8):1072. doi:10.1001/jama.285.8.1072

Publication of clinically relevant information, cutting-edge research findings, and the highest-quality articles possible, with evaluation and decision making based on rigorous peer review and prompt editorial assessment, is the major goal of THE JOURNAL. However, achieving this outcome is only possible with the contributions and active involvement of 2 important and interrelated constituencies—authors and peer reviewers—who deserve our utmost gratitude.

Scientific journals are only as good as the quality of the material submitted for consideration for publication. In 2000, JAMA received 4366 manuscripts for consideration for publication, including reports of major clinical trials, practical clinical review articles, and provocative opinion pieces. On behalf of the editorial staff, we express our sincere appreciation to the many scientists, medical researchers, and clinicians who submitted their papers to JAMA. We appreciate the opportunity to evaluate these interesting and thought-provoking papers and look forward to receiving additional manuscripts from these authors as well as original papers from other authors on virtually any topic in medicine.
