Dr. Howard Barnes, Montreal, paid a visit to
Cornell University last week, where he installed in the physician chemistry
department an exceedingly delicate pyrometer of his own invention, which is
capable of measuring accurately a temperature of 3000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Ban on Consumptives.—Sir James Grant,
Ottawa, president of the Canadian Tuberculosis Association, is authority for
the statement that recommendations have been made to the Canadian Government
to deal with immigrants affected with consumption along similar lines as inaugurated
by the United States Immigration Department.
