"Buenos Días," I say, opening the examination room and extending
my hand in one continuous motion. The recipient, a short, slender, mustached
man with olive skin and the beginnings of gray at his temples, presses his
palm into mine. "Muy buenos," he replies.
A young boy sits on the examination table, clothed only in boxer shorts.
Another boy, several years younger, lounges on the chair in the corner. He
mouths something to the boy on the table, then giggles; the other tightens
his jaw muscles and scowls back.
