Hospitals and the federal government have launched an initiative to
provide consumers with key quality information. The voluntary program will
start in three pilot states and include 10 measures of quality.
The American Hospital Association, Association of American Medical Colleges,
Federation of American Hospitals, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations, and National Quality Forum will work with the Department of
Health and Human Services (DHHS) to implement the program. Reports from participating
hospitals will be posted on a DHHS Web site.
