August 25 there appeared at my office a man, 26 years of age, who seemed much agitated. He explained that he felt snakes in his right ear. By the aid of direct illumination I observed close up against the ear drum and in the canal just below it what appeared to be a mass of writhing white larvæ. Some of them were wiggling in a circular manner about the canal close to the drum membrane, but none ventured toward the external opening.
