South Korean Physician Named to Lead WHO

The World Health Organization's (WHO) executive board has nominated Jong Wook Lee, MD, MPH, as the organization's next director-general.

Lee, a South Korean epidemiologist and expert on tuberculosis (TB) and vaccine-preventable diseases in children, is a WHO insider who has worked for the Geneva-based agency for 19 years. He began his career with the WHO in 1983 as a leprosy consultant in Micronesia.
