To the Editor: Dr Cohen's argument1 is a lobbying effort to persuade the reader and
the government to accept quotas as a basis for admission to medical school.
As a longtime medical educator and department chair at a medical school, I
find the idea of a quota system counterproductive to the mission of providing
the best medical care available to the patients under our care and under the
care of those we train.
