To the Editor: Dr Cohen's argument1 is a lobbying effort to persuade the reader and the government to accept quotas as a basis for admission to medical school. As a longtime medical educator and department chair at a medical school, I find the idea of a quota system counterproductive to the mission of providing the best medical care available to the patients under our care and under the care of those we train.
