The third edition of Principles and Practice of Endocrinology and Metabolism, edited by Kenneth L. Becker, with ten associate editors and 330 contributors, is an encyclopedic endeavor covering all important aspects of endocrinology. It has been "substantially and systematically revised." It is so comprehensive that it could be used as a resource by practicing endocrinologists, basic scientists, internists, and medical residents. Although large (2140 text pages), it is extremely well organized, allowing the reader to focus quickly on a particular problem.
