Physicians in the United States are in the midst of a liability insurance crisis. Reasons cited include an out-of-control tort system with unreasonably high awards and mismanagement by liability insurance companies. Related issues that have received less attention include the need to reduce errors in medical practice and the need for physicians to be more accountable for their actions.
