Avoiding Medical Errors

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has launched a clinical trial to evaluate an experimental treatment for patients infected with West Nile virus (http://www.niaid.nih.gov/newsroom/releases/wnv_trials.htm). Through the trial, researchers hope to assess whether giving infected individuals immunoglobulin containing antibodies to West Nile virus can reduce the severity of illness.
