There are several treatises available on the topic of evidence-based medicine (EBM); their emphases have ranged from introductory to intensive. This journal has published reviews of many of them.14 Now, Professor Milos Jenicek, a long-time exponent of epidemiology, presents a different facet of EBM. His emphasis is on the philosophical moorings of scientific inquiry and clinical medicine.
