The title of this book, edited by Bernard A. Eskin, MD, and Bruce R. Troen, MD, requires explanation. Geripause, a term created by Dr Eskin, is defined as the phase of menopause after age 65 years. After reading this informative work, I believe the term geripause will become part of our medical lexicon.

The book has three parts: "The Effects of Age," "Care of the Older Patient," and "Conclusions and Commentary." The editors are ably assisted by contributing experts in geriatrics, women's health, nursing, psychiatry, and endocrinology.
