Nutrition in Pediatrics is the third edition of a comprehensive textbook. This edition includes multiple new chapters and a new section, "Physiology and Pathophysiology." The book has five major sections, which include 59 chapters.

The first section, "General Concepts," has 14 chapters that cover such topics as clinical and laboratory assessment of nutritional status, body composition and growth, macronutrients, trace elements, and vitamins. In the previous edition, macronutrients, carbohydrates, fat, and protein were discussed in a single chapter, but in the new edition, each has an individual chapter. Important and very useful in this edition are new chapters covering international health issues and nutritional epidemiology. In an era of increasing involvement by many pediatricians in global health issues, this information will prove especially valuable.
