Once every decade or so I clean out the desk drawers in my clinic office.
It is a massive and long-dreaded undertaking, which generally doesn't accomplish
a great deal. I remove the occasional petrified stick of Juicy Fruit gum,
toss out defunct business cards of drug company reps who have ridden off into
the corporate sunset, and do a token reduction of the number of functional
pens I own to a more reasonable number, usually around 200. I doubt the casual
observer would recognize when my desk drawers have been purged. Much of it
still looks like trash.
