Sen Bill Frist (R, Tenn) and three colleagues have introduced a bill
designed to reduce health disparities for racial and ethnic minority groups.
The "Closing the Health Care Gap Act" calls for better data collection on
health quality; authorizes grants to provide access to care for the underserved;
authorizes an Office of Minority Health in the Department of Health and Human
Services (DHHS); and would boost efforts to train minority health professionals.
