Middleton, Reed, and Ellis' original goal for their "comprehensive book
about allergy" was to provide an up-to-date compendium of the immunologic,
physiologic, and pharmacologic principles of atopic diseases. Advances in
the allergy-immunology subspecialty are the basis for the sixth edition of Middleton's Allergy, now edited by Adkinson et al.
The editors have assembled a talented, internationally recognized faculty
of 161 authors. These authors contribute 94 chapters on the mechanisms, clinical
features, and therapy of the entire spectrum of allergic disease. The two-volume,
1764-page text is dedicated to founding editor Elliot Middleton, Jr.
