J. Meyer1 has made the observation that extracts of muscular tissue of Egyptian mummies give positive results when mixed with precipitating serum of rabbits immunized with human serum. One of the mummies is said to be about five thousand years old. This result serves to establish that the biologic test is applicable to material several thousand years old. On this account it is suggested that this test may prove of value in the study of certain problems in anthropology at the same time as the theoretical and purely scientific interest in specific precipitation certainly increases as its range of applicability widens.
