It is hard enough to understand the past; it is much more difficult to anticipate the future. Most forecasts rely on simple extrapolations from the present with a dash of imagination thrown in for new technologies.

What happens when biology meets the baby boom? This book considers the effects of medical advances on the aging of our society and the social consequences. It tests the impacts of a variety of assumptions, largely based on reasonable (but theoretical) extrapolations of best-case and worst-case scenarios.
