Chicago—Listen to health care professionals
in the correctional field and they will remind you that prisoners are the
only individuals in the United States with a legal right to health care. Consider
that right in the context of an aging prison population, tight budgets, and
growing numbers of incarcerated patients with chronic conditions and diseases
affecting older individuals and it's clear that the system is on the verge
of a health care crisis.
