At this year’s Republican and Democratic conventions, both candidates
for president laid out their ideas regarding health care.
President George W. Bush, noting how people seldom work for one company
anymore, said health insurance is offered today in an outmoded manner. He
said tax credits will encourage employers to set up health savings accounts,
which would be portable when workers change jobs. However, critics of the
approach question its economic soundness and ability to help the uninsured.
