This interesting book is unique in covering extensively and in detail a subject that heretofore has not been presented in an organized fashion. The author, Prof Dr Henk Klasen, is a surgeon and burn specialist, formerly of the University Hospital, University of Groningen, and member of the board of the Dutch Burns Foundation. History of Burns begins with a laudatory foreword by William W. Monafo, MD, a pioneer in burn treatment who worked with Carl Moyer, MD, at Washington University. Nine chapters follow, each ending with a summary and exhaustive list of references, most in German or English.
