A well-known physician researcher delivers medical grand rounds at your hospital. The title slide tells the audience that they will hear about a new approach to treating a chronic illness. The second slide provides financial disclosure but is displayed so briefly that most of the audience cannot read it. The disease imposes a major burden on society, particularly for people older than 65 years, many of whom are currently undertreated. The speaker presents the genetic, molecular, and physiological basis for the disease and a theory as to why the new treatment might help. “Before and after” pictures are shown.
