Beating the drums to heighten awareness of the risks of cardiovascular disease in women is Lori Mosca, MD, PhD.

Mosca, director of preventive cardiology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and associate professor of medicine at Columbia University, chaired last year’s writing group that issued new American Heart Association guidelines for preventing heart disease and stroke in women based on their individual cardiovascular health (Mosca et al. Circulation. 2004;109:672-693).
