Effect of Hepatitis A Vaccination Programs

When new vaccines are developed, the epidemiology and pathology of vaccine-preventable infectious diseases are revisited and rewritten. This was true with hepatitis A vaccines more than 10 years ago. Hepatitis A epidemiology shows that an increasing part of the adolescent and adult population in industrialized countries is becoming susceptible to hepatitis A virus infection, as infection in childhood decreases.13
