The editors of the new edition of Cecil Essentials of Medicine intend it “for all students of internal medicine, whatever their age or status.” This phonebook-sized paperback aims to provide a compact but readable digest of the “core essentials” of internal medicine.

The format is the same as in preceding editions. Each section begins with a review of the relevant biochemistry and physiology of the system being considered, followed by detailed expositions of the diseases associated with that system. Purchase of the paperback text entitles the buyer to online access not only to Cecil Essentials of Medicine but also to Cecil Textbook of Medicine, 26th edition.
