Evidence-Based Medicine and the Search for a Science of Clinical Care, by Jeanne Daly, is essentially a history-of-science book that looks at the rise of the twin disciplines of clinical epidemiology and evidence-based medicine. It is most timely, because, now that evidence-based medicine is generally accepted as part of clinical medicine, the evangelism may begin to wane. With acceptance of evidence-based medicine as a good and valid addition to medicine, perhaps we can now look with a more objective eye on its achievements and limitations.
