It is said that the public has been so far educated as to the dangers
of microbic infection that the redemption bureau of the Treasury Department
is overworked by the turning in of dirty currency and the demand for fresh
bills. Perhaps the campaign for the Post check currency, which has disseminated
so many warnings about dirty money, is in part responsible for this interest
on the part of the public. We welcome it as we shall welcome the check currency—when
the express companies’ lobby is overthrown.
