Routine Depression Screening for Patients With Diabetes

To the Editor Ms Ducat and colleagues1 recommended routinely screening patients with diabetes for depression. They cited the American Diabetes Association (ADA) standards of care2 to support this recommendation. However, neither the ADA standards nor Ducat et al cite any evidence from randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that screening for depression would reduce the burden of depression among patients with diabetes.
