The health care industry has seen better days. Rage and Reconciliation: Inspiring a Health Care Revolution has given citizens across the country a platform to rebuke the US health care system, one passionate essay at a time.
In this engrossing collection of personal essays by physicians, lawyers, and patients, editor Lee Gutkind offers a composite analysis of a “seriously-ill healthcare system” (p 38) whose increasing number of “failed promises” (p 32) has bred “growing discontent among patients” (p 105) and health care professionals alike. The essays, from a writing contest sponsored by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation in 2002, are grounded in personal experiences that bring important health-system issues to light.
