You lie face up, careful not to move,
The huge, humming eye in its groove
Taking you in from thigh to brain.
The cath slithers from vein to vein.
Out of the loop, an old husband,
I hold my own unskillful hand
And wait, trying hard not to doubt
The men who know you inside out.
