Assessing and Addressing Global Malnutrition

JAMA. 2015;313(3):235. doi:10.1001/jama.2014.18329

A new overview of global malnutrition, the “Global Nutrition Report” provides data on all forms of malnutrition for all ages and highlights challenges and opportunities for action (http://globalnutritionreport.org/the-report/).

The report defines malnutrition as a complex condition that results from multiple causes and includes more than just undernutrition. Between 2 billion and 3 billion people are malnourished the world over, and many countries are dealing with various forms of malnutrition at once.
