Eradicating Polio

JAMA. 2007;298(16):1858. doi:10.1001/jama.298.16.1858-c

“The End of Polio,” a photo exhibit chronicling the worldwide effort to eradicate poliomyelitis, is on display at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in Atlanta, through January 4, 2008.

The exhibit of photos by internationally acclaimed Brazilian photojournalist Sebastião Salgado captures scenes ranging from mass vaccinations in developing countries to vaccine production in France to the analysis of the few remaining wild strains at the CDC. A preview of the exhibit is available online (http://www.endofpolio.org).
