Stem Cells and Their Potential for Clinical Application

JAMA. 2008;299(14):1724-1725. doi:10.1001/jama.299.14.1724

This book represents the proceedings from a North Atlantic Treaty Organization–sponsored workshop on stem cells. The workshop was held in Kiev and Simeiz in the Ukraine in August 2006 and included participants presenting their stem cell research from Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, the United States, and Canada. The book is neatly divided into sections on hematopoietic stem cells and hematopoiesis; biology of nonhematopoietic stem cells; stem cells and malignancy; stem cell processing, expansion, and genetic modification; and clinical transplantation.
