Vaccination with B C G Vaccine  Professor Calmette has communicated to the Academy of Medicine the results of his recent inquiry in France and in foreign countries on the use of B C G tuberculosis vaccine since 1924. The number of children vaccinated, in all countries taken together, now exceeds 210,000. The inquiry was made among the medical practitioners and the health services that use the vaccine. More than 20,000 clinical researches have proved the absolute harmlessness of the B C G vaccine, not only for man but also for all the animal species subject to tuberculosis. No microbiologist has succeeded in restoring to the B C G vaccine its former virulence. Its efficacy is proved by the fact that in France the general infant mortality has been reduced one half wherever preventive vaccination of the new-born is systematically carried out.
