This is a translation of the second edition of Meller's work; it contains a description of the operations on the eye and its adnexa as performed at the University of Vienna by Meller and his associates. It is not an encyclopedia of ophthalmic surgery, but rather presents the operations that have become the practice in that clinic. The description of each operation is simple but clear. The illustrations are numerous but well done, and amplify the text. In the preface, Meller outlines his method of instruction, which consists in demonstrating and explaining technic and then analyzing mistakes made by the students. This edition is dedicated to the Rockefeller Foundation.
