Push for a Year Supply of Birth Control

JAMA. 2015;314(6):549. doi:10.1001/jama.2015.9348

Rep Suzanne Bonamici (D, Ore) and Rep Jackie Speier (D, Calif), along with 53 other members of Congress, recently urged the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to institute new guidelines requiring insurers to cover a 1-year supply of a woman’s birth control prescription, without any out-of-pocket costs (http://1.usa.gov/1f6igEd).

Their request aligns with family planning recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the US Office of Population Affairs (http://1.usa.gov/1JM6lrK).
