There Are No Words

In memory of Dr Michael J. Davidson

(z”l), April 19, 1970–January 20, 2015,

son, brother, husband, father, healer

There are no words—
these lines, marks, strokes
are only signs of what may speak
to the randomness of being.
It is the chants we need,
the humming of the seas,
the teachings from the trees and birds,
the grasses’ wordless melodies
entering the broken pieces
of our still beating hearts.
This is who we are
bound up together in the bond of life.
We will not yield until there is no breath within us
or the Earth no longer sings.
